FIELD MANUAL // 01
How to ruin yesterday
3–8 players · one phone · 4 or 5 rounds · about 20–35 minutes. Everyone is a candidate in the fictional city of New Yesterday. Your goal is the most Legacy points.
Campaign: Read the crisis, two public archive facts and the required object. Each candidate has up to 25 seconds to pitch a ridiculous policy that uses the object and obeys the broadcast rule. Speak in seat order. The timer is optional. Then the lowest-scoring candidate answers a surprise broadcast scandal in 10 seconds.
Election: Pass the phone. Each player secretly votes for someone else. Most votes wins; a tie goes to the tied candidate with fewer points, then seat order rotating each round. Winner gains 2 Legacy; players who voted for them gain 1.
Hearing: The winner alone sees whether the classified claim is authentic or forged. They read it exactly and defend it for 25 seconds. Once per game, they may redact one public archive fact. Everyone else secretly votes AUTHENTIC or FORGED. Correct voters gain 1. Each voter also has one Time Token to double a verdict: +2 if correct, −1 if wrong. If strictly more than half are wrong, the spokesperson gains 1.
Rewrite: Winner may write a one-line amendment. Then they choose Patch (reduce Paradox by 1) or Exploit (gain 1 Legacy and add 1 Paradox). Either creates a new law and a speaking rule for the next round. When Paradox reaches 3, all other candidates gain 2, the meter resets to 1, and the next election is an emergency: each pitch gets just one sentence.
Final referendum: Everyone secretly votes for one law to preserve. Its author gains 2 Legacy, and everyone who voted for that law gains 1. A law tied for most votes loses to the earlier enacted law. Most Legacy wins; tie goes to most election wins, then a shared victory.
The archive and conspiracies are invented for this game. The seal on the file is a game answer, not a statement about real politics. If the group wants a gentler game, skip the timed speaking but keep the votes.
VOTE FOR YESTERDAY
A305X fictional chrono-election party game · 3–8 players · one phone · 4–5 rounds
Round
Read the public archive. Each candidate pitches a policy in 25 seconds using the required object and broadcast rule. The lowest-scoring candidate answers a 10-second scandal.
Secretly vote for another player. Winner: 2 points. Anyone who backed them: 1 point. Tie: lower score, then rotating seat order.
Winner privately sees the dossier seal, reads its claim exactly and defends it for 25 seconds. Once per game they may redact one archive fact. Others secretly vote authentic or forged. Correct: 1 point. Each voter has one double-down token: correct +2, wrong −1. If a strict majority is wrong, spokesperson: 1 point.
Winner may write a one-line amendment, then patches time (Paradox −1) or exploits it (+1 point, Paradox +1). The law sets the next round's speaking rule. At Paradox 3, others get 2 points, reset to 1, and the next pitch is one sentence.
Finish
Everyone secretly votes for one law to preserve. Its author gains 2 points and its voters gain 1 each. Tied laws favor the earlier one. Highest score wins; tie goes to election wins, then shared victory.
All case facts and conspiracies are invented fiction.
